What is a composite door?

What is a composite door and why is it the preferred choice of entrance door for Scottish homes?

You may not have given much thought to doors in the past, but there is a lot to consider when deciding on an external door for your home. After all, not all doors are made equal.
Composite doors are fast gaining popularity as the preferred entrance door for homes across the United Kingdom, but what makes them superior to other doors?

A composite door is a door made up of a variety of elements rather than a single material, making them tougher and more energy efficient with a much longer lifespan than other doors on the market. They are exceptionally well-designed and boast high quality, modern finishes.

Rockdoor have been the driving force behind composite door technology for over 20 years. Their nickel-coated solid brass hook locks, high impact uPVC skins, carbon fibre reinforced inner frames and unique S-Glaze system make their composite doors the best in the game.

Tough as Nails

Reinforced with carbon fibre, the same material used in Formula 1 racing cars, orbiting satellites and fighter jets, Rockdoor’s composite doors are unparalleled on toughness and strength. Their core is 60% stronger than standard composite doors and they are PAS 24 and Secured by Design certified. Composite doors have a high resistance to weathering and aren’t adversely affected by seasonal changes like a single material door.

Keeping you and your family safe

Composite doors offer vastly improved home security. Since nearly 70% of burglaries involve forced entry through the front or back door, Rockdoor have developed nickel-coated solid brass hook-locks that slide into steel keeps running the full length of the door’s outer frame, which means the door cannot be forced open. In fact, Rockdoor hit the headlines as the ‘Door That Beat the Bobbies’ when local police had to abandon their attempts to break through a Rockdoor with battering rams!

Their TS007 3 star rated (the highest available), German-engineered, multi point locking systems are state of the art and SS 312 Sold Secure Diamond Standard -and Secured by Design accredited. They are, in short, burglar proof.

All Rockdoors feature S-Glaze technology as standard (P8), which eliminates the threat of forced entry and is a superior alternative to the more commonly-used clip-on or cassette glazing which is added to many composite doors after they’ve been built.

If that hasn’t offered you sufficient peace of mind, Rockdoors are also impossible to cut through. High impact 3mm uPVC skins, a 50mm sash and a high density core have seen to that.

Made perfectly for your home

Because every Rockdoor is made-to-measure rather than mass-produced to a standard shape before being trimmed to size, they are an exact fit for your home. This also means they are super strong, easier to maintain and not prone to draughts.

Energy Efficient

Carbon fibre not only offers exceptional reinforcement, it also promises excellent thermal efficiency. No timber means there’s no moisture build up which ensures there is no warping or swelling and no leaks. S-Glaze technology eliminates draughts by closing all gaps, preventing the loss of warm air from inside and leading to lower heating bills.
